2017 has brought on a whole host of new games consoles, with amazing technology and 4K resolution becoming available at our homes. Gaming has become more and more popular over the last few years, especially with the addition of remastered classics from our childhood such as Crash Bandicoot and the original Assassin’s Creed. Whether you want a massive screen with 4K resolution and surround sound for your games room, or you would rather have a convenient device to hold in your hands; there are some amazing new consoles which have been released this year to satisfy any type of gamer. Today we are going to take a look at some of the games consoles that have come out this year.

Sony PS4 Pro
£349

Playstations have been a household favourite for years and years, so the release of a new one will always cause loyal fans to get excited. The PS4 Pro is the latest addition in a long line of Sony gaming consoles, and had some really great features. It boasts an impressive 4K resolution which is not only limited to video playback, but to the gameplay too This is something which gamers have wanted for years, and it will help to immerse the player in that fantasy world. It also has a larger storage facility of 1TB of data.  It’ll make you stoked for the new game of your favourite series. It is the most powerful console to be released this year.

Microsoft Xbox One S
£349

Although the fully 4K Xbox one isn’t going to be out until later this year, the Xbox One S is still an awesome console to own. It is lighter than the traditional Xbox One and has an impressive 2TB of storage. It is compatible for 4K with video, but it is not available in the gameplay yet. For that you will need to wait.

Nintendo Switch
£279

This is possibly one of the more exciting launches of the past year. The Nintendo Switch is a handheld console, but not like any of the DS or Gameboys before it. The switch can be hooked up to your TV screen so that you can play games on a bigger screen, and has two controllers which you can slide off each side to play your games on the go. If you are a fan of Zelda or Mario, the switch is the only console that offers the new additions to these sagas at the moment.

Sony PS4 Slim
£259

Sony didn’t stop at the PS4 Pro, they have also released the PS4 Slim too. It’s pretty easy to guess what this is, it is a smaller, lighter and slimmer PS4. The great thing about this console is the player won’t need to upgrade anything because the internals are the same.

New Nintendo 2DS XL
£129

Rather than the 3DS, which doesn’t even support 3D properly, the 2DS XL is taking us back to the 2DS which came before it, without all that 3D stuff added in. This console is great for handheld play and offers a huge range of games for you to enjoy. It also allows you to play 3DS games without having that console. It is a great introduction to the 3DS range.

New Nintendo 3DS XL
£179.99

That 3D feature can be a deal breaker for some of us, which is why the 3DS XL is a great option if you like the look of the 2DS XL but don’t want to give up the 3D element in the design. New games are being released constantly for the 3DS, and you can enjoy all of your favourites while being immersed in the 3D world. The gameplay is fun and you can get games such as Pokémon Sun and Moon.

Nvidia Shield TV
£189.99

Nvidia may not be as well-known as some of the others on this list, but the new Nvidia Shield TV is an impressive piece of kit which definitely deserves some recognition. It is a media streamer and has a storage of 16GB. You can download android games onto the device in order to play on the big screen, and games typically start from around 79p each. It offer on-demand TV and also provides you with a number of games which are exclusive to the Shield. If you want to stream games throughout the month, it will set you back £7.99, but with that you will get a good range of games in the library to play to your heart’s content.
