With thanks to Uma Ceawlin for styling and modeling
Today's metaverse style takes a turn away from Lolita and into something called "FRUiTs", a brand of fashion named after the magazine that documented its rise. Shoichi Aoki, the photographer who founded the magazine, said that FRUiTs style is inspired by everyday streetwear in Japan. He started the magazine after he noticed that Japanese fashion began to turn away from clothing that was strictly inspired by the West. FRUiTs fashion mixed Japanese geta and other clothing elements into Western-wear, especially in the shopping district Harajuku (made known to Westerners several years ago by Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers line).
Nowadays, the style seems to imply that anything and everything can be worn together, and that more is never less. More color, more patterns, more brightness, more sparkle and accessories come together to create looks that are perfect representations of the individual. Unlike the more brand-conscious shopping districts of Shibuya and Ginza, FRUiTs style focuses upon self-expression however it might happen. Uma took the FRUiTs idea and concentrated upon color, pattern, and a soft girlish bulk of sweater and skirt, and this is perfectly fine. Nothing better fits the theme of FRUiTs style than creative interpretation.
