An Easy Way to Animate a Mesh in Unity3D: UnityMorph

I've mentioned before in scripting that i was working on a way to easily animate a mesh in Unity (what's Unity3D?), and... it is done! How this works?

  • You make your mesh just like normal, building, setting UV texturing, Even boning and animating.
  • You then make a copy of the base neutral mesh and reshape it so what you need. (normal face into a smiling face)
  • You then use the blender script to make a color Diff map in the vertex color data of the mesh, and then using baking to render that into a UV texture.
  • Do this for each new shape.

Then, you...

Expanding the horizons of Virtual Worlds

Okay, Universal data exchange seems to still elude us all. Moving virtual items into formats we want should be simple, but are evilly difficult.

For example, if I want to export my avatar from SL and use it in Blender 3D (or another 3d program of your choice), there is no 'export avatar' option. Nothing to get a UV textured mesh out of SL and into anything else. I can't take my build and export it so I can add lighting and see it in soft diffuse shadows.

While I understand that it's in the best interest of the person running a virtual world to keep people in that world, I am still disappointed at these limits, and want to move past them.

My question is, does anyone else know of ways to get SL content into 3rd party engines?
(
Ways easier than loading special drivers that allow the rough ripping of whatever I'm looking at using GL scanning?
)

Anything would be a godsend...

A Fool's Unity 3D Review - Creatives UNITE in 3D!

I work for Rezzable, a company dealing in 3D content and entertainment. This review of Unity 3D is based on a week's worth of examination and testing. It should not be considered a conclusive opinion based on the production of a final 3d game product, but the beginning opinion of a reasonably-well educated creative.

I am reasonably knowledgeable in the following areas (reasonably means I have a passable skill level in these areas, but should not be considered and expert):

Greenies Home - Visit Rezzable Virtual World Locations

Twas the night before Christmas...

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the Sim.
Not a Avi was stirring, nor even a prim.
Only some few were online, for friends and for pals,
And were gathered in just a few such locales.

The Lindens were nestled all snug on their land,
While peace filled their servers, no one to be banned.
And Bot in her Lifetree, and I with my staff,
Were settled with family, for a good evening's laugh.

When out in the garden, there arose such a sound,
We ran to the gate, and see what we found!
When the door, it had opened, and the scene, it did rezz,
The view that did greet us, it did quite impress.

The ground was covered, with snow oh-so-white,
And the moon glistened off it, a beautiful sight.
A wonder indeed, I can offer no doubt,
Since per-pixel shading, in SL was not out.

But the wonder of wonders, a sight I held dear,
Something that told me, we have nothing to phear.
A man dressed in red, with a circlet of green,
With stature so jolly, as ever I've seen.
