Juushika Redgrave Features a Summer-Warmed Dress from Carnival of Doom

Up in the Northern Hemisphere, Summer has just begun. Second Life of course doesn't have seasons, but I still clad myself in sun-warmed clothes this week to go hang out in barns and in wheat fields which are drying before the harvest. I began with a dress from Carnival of Doom—called Zemfira, it is created by Hyasynth Tiramisu, the designer for Silent Sparrow. The dress features many of Hyasynth's trademarks including hand drawn style and shading, a tiered skirt, and numerous wear options—it also comes in her usual wide array of color choices, but I fell in love with the pumpkin tone and so I'm wearing it here. I chose the flower-patterned skirt and the simple ribbed corset, and modded them both a little—I moved the skirt up to create a higher and fuller waistline, and tinted the corset a bit to give it some contrast against the dress material. I do simple modding like this with most of my outfits because it helps me personalize my style even if I'm wearing a complete dress without mixing and matching pieces from different designers.

I chose the rest of the outfit to suit the dress while keeping the rich orange from become to Autumn-like. I pulled out the muted green-browns of the skirt pattern in my shoes, which are a simple pair of flats from Sand Shack Surf Co. The hair is the most recent freebie from Maitreya, in their new beautiful textures—I modded it as well, removing the flat cut bangs and replacing them with a restyled hairline. This sort of modding is a bit more complex than a simple repositioning or tint, but it comes easier with practice—and in this case, I love the product of my efforts. The necklace is from Royal Blue and I didn't see it on sale so it may be retired, but the store offers a number of other unique outfits and accessories. However, what completes this outfit and makes a perfect pair with the dress is the skin, which is from Hybrid via the new range called Archetype. It has a distinct handdrawn style and a glow that I've never seen on any other skin. There are some seam issues and I had to modify my shape to fit it, but it's reasonably priced and truly one of a kind in Second Life.
