Really Virtual in London (sorta)

Virtual Worlds London on Greenies Laptop

It's all quite a big topic these days--yes, Virtual World is hot stuff. Lot of money getting dished out on many new platforms that will hit the market hard in 2009 (see our watch list here) . Makes us all the early lab rats adopters in this exciting space blah blah blah. But, actually there a few events that seems to have some energy and some interesting things going on and there is one even coming to visit us here in London! Yes, VirtualWorldNews.com (is a little hype-overload, but also has lot of good info on stuff and their weekly newspam is ok) is running an event called er...Virtual Worlds London anyway, you probably get the main idea here--it's about virtual worlds and in London. Event runs October 20-21 which is a lovely time of year here as well (some other good London deal promos here).

The event is a bit pricey, so probably more for you all with expense accounts or tons of lindens to burn (...yes, the money)...but because I am on a speaking panel, they gave us a little 10% discount code to offer. Stick this code = REZZABLEVIP in the box on this registration page . Someone from Lively, Niniane Wang Engineering Manager, Lively Engineering Lead is giving some presentations. Linden Lab is sponsering this event and even sends their recently appointed CEO Mark Kingdon over to keynote at Virtual Worlds London. According to Christopher Sherman: 'Clearly, Linden Lab and Mark Kingdon are at the forefront of the entire virtual worlds industry, an industry that is charting a new course for communications and media in an age of 3D connectivity. We look forward to hearing Mark's perspective on how new innovations will allow virtual worlds will substantially change the nature of communications.'

Same company is running another show in LA in early Sept...not Virtual Worlds LA...Virtual Worlds Expo so you can kinda get an idea on what level to expect in London. Looks like a lot of teen, tweens and 2.5D stuff tbh...and no offense to the Mouse, but since when is Disney the virtual world expert? They opened in 2005 and closed in 2008 the Virtual Magic Kingdom. But they say they gonna burn $100million in 10 new worlds soon. Makes the Mouse a hot prospect customer for all the new platforms. And take a gander at the 100+ list of Kids Virtual Worlds. Well, I guess eventually there will be noobs that can use the SL client and orientaiton islands!

Or just buy a book from our library!

Greenies set-up for Virtual Worlds London

As Mr Green did not totally agree with the information present on the VirtualWorldsLondon front page, and Greenies if they want to visit will need some more information - spaceship parking space, alien diets, entrance fee, languages spoken, turn left at which galaxy for the venue again? - they decided to use an old fashion bottle of tip-ex and marker to correct some of the details and to get the page more extraterrestial friendly. Of course, as usual, with all the best intensions.

In the mean while, we'll gladly offer you a free copy of the prim greenies collection #8 Word Processor Greenie (also known as Dizzy Greenie with Tip-ex) for your rezzing & decorational pleasures (and as a reward as you read this far). As Greenies are using a very, very old bottle of correction fluid, please, be aware of the fumes! Don't virtually inhale! Enjoy. Check this new Greenies set-up out in-world at Greenies Home Sim.
