I'm going to let you all in on a secret. Well, it's not much of a secret, really, but, consider yourselves privileged nonetheless. I am terrified of birds. Their pointy beaks, their scratchy claws, their hollow bones, the frenzied way they flap their wings when they're taking off...There is just one thing that doesn't make me run gibbering to hide under the nearest bench when a bird comes within 5 feet of me. Feathers. Feathers are amazing things. The way they can be stiff and sleek, or soft and bouncy and warm, and the way they're constructed, tiny wisps and tendrils clinging to a central stem, waterproofing or insulating their owner, helping them glide through the sky. And they make fantastic fashion accessories, too!
Part of the beauty of Second Life is the ability to be able to wear copious amounts of feathers, without worrying about the guilt of depriving anyone of their plumage. And what a wonderful beauty it is! After the runaway (or should that be flyaway?) success of the flamboyant feathered fashions featured in Rezzable's recent Black Swan events, feathers are currently enjoying a well-deserved vogue within Second Life, adorning everything from Victorian hats, to taking the place of fur in a trim for this season's more daring winter coats. But nowhere is this upsurge in the feather's popularity in Second Life more spectacular and verging on the edge of fantasy, than it's use in skirts.
Kuranosuke Kamachi has demonstrated with undeniable skill in these dresses, exclusive to Rezzable's Crimson Shadow boutique - let us offer you a teleport - , how feathers can add a touch of personality and spectacular glamour to the most elegant of gowns.
=Whisper of the Feather=

also available in crimson, and black, is anything but a quiet dress. When I first saw it, after I had wiped the drool from my mouth, the first thing I thought was what a wonderful, unusual dress this would be for not only standing out in a crowd in, but for dancing. The off-the-shoulder, elbow length, tiered ruffled sleeves are sculpted, and have a perfect feel of a salsa dress, with all the coy sexiness that entails, a low, sweeping back, and a bejewelled look at the top of the bust on it's sweetheart neckline, the satiny fabric hugging the body down to the hips, where suddenly and stunningly, it bursts forth into a marvellous feather skirt. The first layers of feathers sweep outwards and upwards, giving a wild impression of movement and vitality, even as the wearer stands still she appears as though she's in a beautiful, swirling dance. The lower layers of the skirt taper downwards, flowing in a sleek, slightly V-shaped formation, keeping the sensual elegance of this dress alive, while at the same time conveying a discreet playfulness and fun-loving nature. And boy, is it wonderful to dance in! The layers and layers of flex hold perfectly, offering the occasional peek of leg, as the skirt trails and swirls around with a mesmerizing grace, and it's just...excuse me, I need to wipe some drool away again....
=Bird Prelude=

is available in crimson, and black, is a low cut, strapless evening gown, with an exquisitely textured bodice and a gently plunging neckline, trimmed on the inner cups with delicate lace, giving a tantalizing edge of femininity to this sophisticated dress.
The layered, full skirt brushes against the ankles, and is given an air of classic Victorian style by the draping swag, below the waist, secured by clutches of startlingly realistic-looking sculpted roses at the hips, and gentle bustle at the back. But =Bird Prelude= is set apart from more traditional gowns with the inclusion of an underskirt made not of the usual lace, or net, or silk, but instead a structure of softly gliding downy feathers, conveying a feeling of luxuriousness on the wearer, billowing and settling dreamily with her movements, and peeking out from under the hem.The delicious finishing touch to this subtly unusual gown is the sculpted collar, with a look of velvet to it, which features an enlarged version of the incredible roses found on the skirt (I challenge you to zoom in on those roses and not want to touch their petals, and smell their perfume), and a masterful arrangement of attention-grabbing plumage of varying heights, the tallest reaching even to the top of the wearer's head, an effortless show-stopper without being vulgar or flashy.
These amazing feathery gowns, and if your virtual conscience still won't allow you to wear so many feathers, so many more show stopping dresses, are available at Rezzables Crimson Shadow boutique, home of fashion to die for!
