Swansong: Through the Flames

Fire. The element that dances. Even when ancient man captured the first flame, it retained its trappings of fear and awe. The dynamic essence has twirled throughout the human psyche and tangoed with myths. One of its legendary partners is readily recognizable across the globe – the dragon – and both can bend and twist in a myriad of ways.

And what better to trap both in than the flowing frock of Laughing Academy, Candace Aflame?

Like the element and beast, this gown holds an aura that dresses the owner in intrigue and strength. The sheath-like A-line shape wraps about the body without restricting the legs, perfect for the active beauty. Crowning the top is a burst of frill, mimicking an eruption of flames.

The power of the Candace Aflame is not fully unleashed unless the wearer recognizes its ability to transform: by removing the center skirt piece, the dress becomes the full-body suit making appearances on the virtual couture stage. While the gown form may disappear, the flared pant legs with their slightly sheer fabric retain the ethereal atmosphere.

Belisama’s Mantle from Eye Candy’s Swansong series was made for this dress, and it shows: the red gems with flecks of fire glaze fall down the open back like a live lava flow. Not forgetting the host of the show, the curling shape of the jewels and their woven presentation allude to the feathered breast of a swan.

I adorned these fiery creations upon Pulse’s special edition of the Valeries skin, FIRE in the Champagne tone. The bold, crimson lip color paints any smile with a devilish air, while the upturned eye-liner finishes the look. Taking a cue from this daring lady, I drew up my hair in an up-do originally done for the Killer Designers show in the late Crimson Shadow. Though the staple of the Dark Lands may be dead and buried, the STAINED style may still be acquired from Helena Stringer’s crypt.

The treasures of the Swansong can be found in the land of the Black Swan, but only until the 17th of August. Collect them before they are scattered across the grid with the final toll of the last feathered ballad.
