ART plays around

The Avatar Repertory Theater held the first of its weekly playshop events this past Friday.  These regular Friday events, officially called “ART Plays Around,” start at 5 pm, Second Life time.  They are held at the Archon Theater on Cookie and are open to the public.

ART players in practice performanceThe events will consist of performances by the talented company of ART players.  There will be readings of parts of plays being considered for performance by the troupe.  Some will be recognized plays like "Anthony and Cleopatra", "The Seagull", and "Lysistrata."  Others will be plays written by people in Second Life specifically for performance in Second Life, as described in a recent blog Playreading Workshops join Writers and Actors

In addition, there will be selections from plays, dramatic readings (prose or poetry), and comic performances.  In the future, we hope to capture some performances for the Voices of the Virtual Village project.

London Poetry prize competion -- Jilly Kidd

"The Written Word has a prize competition for the best poem on the theme of London, to arrive by Easter (April 12th). You have a choice of prizes. Either a signed copy of my poetry collection 'Never-Never Land' which I have just held in my hands for the first time, or a cash prize of L$5,000 to spend as you please. I won't be offended if you choose the spondoolicks, as we say in London.
The poem must be your own original work, on the theme of London somehow, and no line limit but don't make it a whole book! When you have your poem ready, pop it on a notecard into my in-tray on the desk in the Meet an Author Bookmarket or in the office near the Waterstage. Put your name at the end of the poem. Good luck!"
