Entertainment outworlding: Promotion and distribution

Geo Meek has been getting good production results out of live streaming.   And some interesting viewer figures.   The other day he streamed  “The Dating Casino” (Pookie Amsterdam) and noted that he had 200 viewers on the live stream.   That with no promotion.

Geo’s live stream is available here.  The content, of course, will change as Geo streams different shows.  He streamed part of the Howard Barker show on Tuesday evening (California time).  By Wednesday morning, the video was reporting about 600 viewers.   Geo’s channel reports nearly 2000 viewers this month.

People can watch a live stream on the web in much the same way they would watch any other video on the web.   If you can produce entertaining content in Second Life, you can start building an audience.  That will take branding and promoting in the outworld.   But you have the same potential audience as any other entertainment product on the web.

Greg Colburn (Inworld, Greg Colossus) is building a multimethod promotion plan.   See his Website.  Gregg writes and performs musi and sells CDs.  In Second Life he makes musical videos of his performances.  And now he is offering live streams of his performances.

Lauren Live did another set of shows for Treet.TV on Tuesday. Lauren does one live show a month for the Treet cameras.  Treet cuts the video capture into segments and runs the segments between its other shows. Lauren's performances are also available here.

The Avatar Repertory Theater  set up its own live stream for the Howard Barker "13 Objects" show.  The stream is now archived here.  This channel, which shows the whole 2 hours and 6 minutes, has been viewed over 5000 times this week.  Probably more by the time you check it.
