Eva Moon has already gone for blended reality. She has been performing in Second Life for over a year. And she has been performing frequently for Thinkerer Studios projects ever since she arrived. One of her earliest gigs was on Saturdays Wild, at the Forum. At right is a picture of her performance at the Archon Theater on Cookie.
Eva has earned enough (according to her press release) to finance a new CD, “Moon Falling Down." So she and her real life band, the Lunatics, will blend worlds in a simultaneous physical and virtual world release concert for their new CD. Eva Moon (EvaMoon Ember in SL) is known for her hot music and hilariously sexy, no-holds barred lyrics. In this release concert, her band will be in both worlds.
Says Eva Moon: "We'll be streaming our RL party live from Seattle - with the full band on stage in both worlds! The Seattle SL music community will be there cheering us on. The SL party will be projected on the wall of the RL club so everyone will be able to see you partying it up. Don't miss this!"
The physical location will be in Redmond, Washington, the band’s home town. The location in Second Life will be at Menorca.
The advantages of Second Life for a music business are summarized in the press release: “musicians play live for audiences around the world without leaving their homes. No roadies, no tour buses. It's rapidly becoming a hot channel for savvy musicians to reach a global market.” This event will also be a proof-of-concept for the blended reality theme I have been promoting in previous articles:

More suggestions on what music (and business) needs in SL
You know those notecards -- the lame substitute in Second Life for business letters. You will have noticed that you have no formatting; you can’t search for content, sender, or other information typical of an email service like Gmail. I put a few keywords in the title of important notecards. Recpient, subject, my signature initials (TKR). That helps me and the recipient find the notecard in inventory.
Notecards are clearly a legacy from SL’s gaming ancestry. And not one that professionals want to use, much less mention to other professionals when they explain the advantages of doing business in SL.
Do I want the Lindens to fix the notecard system? Please, God, no! People are not going to do business in a walled garden. I want the Lindens (or the other viewer developers) to move notecards back and forth between Gmail and SL. I want my notecards to go automatically into my Gmail. And I want to be able to send letters from my Gmail account into notecards to be delivered to my SL contacts.

Theater in Second Life
Mokey Mokuse tells me that The Lady From the Sea, by Henrik Johan Ibsen, will open as part of events at Rockcilffe University for the weekend of July 10th.
A new play, "God of Science," by Storm Northwind and others in the Kira group got a first reading this past friday at the ART Plays Around session. This theatrical session, done by the Avatar Repertory Theater troupe every Friday at 5 pm SLT, presents a potpourri of experimental and developing theater.
The play is probably available for production, but I think the Avatar Repertory Theater people are at the head of the line with their first read.
Videography in Second Life
Mahana Machinima (Noelani Mahana) in conjunction with blacklashed.net announced two casting calls this week. These are for a feature-length film consisting of two 20 minute shorts and trailers shot inside of Second Life. This project is not-for-profit and will be funded through donations of private contributors and sponsors. More information is available at Mahanaville.
The film will premiere in Second Life through negotiations with various Machinima venues, and on the internet at Blip.TV and Machinima.com. The total pre-production, production and post production time is estimated at three months from June thru October 2009, with a premiere scheduled for October 31st 2009
These casting calls went out via the Thinkerer Studios notice list, Theater Backstage. We are having so many casting calls recently that I worry a bit about whether we will have enough people to meet the needs. At the Hobo Island Community Gateway, we try to tell newcomers and amenities like this in Second Life.
