All it takes is a big TV screen to bring your Second Life party into your living room. At least that is what I claimed a while back: Real Entertainment from the Virtual Village.
And Eva Moon Ember did something like that with the release of her new CD: Eva Moon Goes Blended World

Outsider art
What: "Outside of What?" The University of Delaware invites you to a live, in-world talk on Outsider Art by Lance Winn, Associate Professor, Department of Art, University of Delaware.
When: Friday Oct. 23 2009, 11:30 California time.
An overview of his real life art. Previous presentation by artist Lance Winn: Outsider Art Comes Inworld
Where: The University of Delaware in Second Life
"Outside of What?" will explore issues around both the historic status of "Outsider Art" and how artists working in Second Life conform or deviate from past ideas of what it meant to be outside of the mainstream art world. The talk will attempt to figure out what the so-called insider "art world" is in our current time, and how we might think of things like self-taught at time when all artists working in the digital realm are essentially learning on their own as new software is continually developing.
In addition to the talk there will be an art exhibit from Oct. 23 - Nov.17, 2009. The exhibit will feature the works of notable Second Life creators including:
- AM Radio
- Bryn Oh
- Cheen Pitney
- DC Spensley
- Filthy Fluno
- Glyph Graves
- Kilara Balnarring
- Raskolnikow Roffo
- Sabrinaa Nightfire
- soror Nishi
- Ub Yifu
More to be announced soon!
Much of the description could be applied to many aspects of Second Life creations. The very nature of creating in this 3D space, and some of the definitions of the form, can put the artwork created here in the Outsider category.

Architectural Design and International Collaboration in Virtual Worlds
Sunday: A panel sponsoredby The United States Department of State Bureau of International Information Programs discussed how architects utilize virtual technologies for international development partnerships.
President Barack Obama, speaking from Egypt this June: “We will match promising Muslim students with internships in America; invest in on-line learning for teachers and children around the world; and create a new online network, so a teenager in Kansas can communicate instantly with a teenager in Cairo.”
I have met a few students from the University of Cairo. They came into Second Life at the Rockcliffe Gateway. There is no Gateway for people who speak Arabic, but I found a number of sims that have
Arabic as the primary language.
