Isn't there a song that goes 'all good things come to an end?' (Ah yes, by Miss Furtado) Well, the Global Music Festival sponsored by Languagelab was definitely such a good thing that's now after a month of music fun is ending. With more than 40 performers from all over the world we've definitely rocked the grid during the GMF!
If you have not taken a look at the Languagelab website, do so now! ;) But don't worry or shed your tears yet, we still have a few things planned starting October 4th starting 11am SLT:
- An bound to be impressive Relaycast Show with Dolmere Talamasca, Toby Lancaster, Mimi Carpenter and Maximillion Kleene in Greenie-style.
- Announcement of the GMF 'Captured Proverbs' contest winners: who will win the big prize?
- Launch of the voting for best DJ/Performer of GMF. The winner will walk away with 50K L$ & 50K of in-world prizes.
- A final, mind & bubble blowing Global Festival Goodie emoter!
Relaycast: Dolmere Talamasca, Toby Lancaster, Mimi Carpenter and Maximillion Kleene
Attending a Relaycast by the US-based Dolmere Talamasca, Canadian Toby Lancaster, Maximillion Kleene from the UK and German based - but French accented - Mimi Carpenter is always a real delight, and we're more than happy to share this delight with you! They were the public's favourite at the T61 music festival at Gardenstock, and an exellent example of how to have - international fun - when performing music in Second Life.
In Greenie-wear, Dolmere Talamasca, Toby Lancaster, Mimi Carpenter and Maximillion Kleene will be performing the GMF Closing Party, October 4th, 11am SLT at Greenies Home, on the kitchen table. (TP) When attending the concert, you might notice something alien-strange: Greenies they'll be for this concert.
Gift #1? Access to Greenies will be free during the closing party, so you can all enjoy this lovely quartet. Prizes of the Greenies Ring (which you need to wear to obtain access) shall be set to 0 for that short while, so be quick!
'Captured Proverbs' SL photography contest
This was not your typical photo contest; the 'Captured Proverbs' is a celebration of the RL diversity that helps make SL special. We've had a lot of creative, hilarious and thoughtful entries and it was though having to narrow those down to the Top 3 that will be announced at the GMF Closing party after the Relaycast show. An overview:
Created with Admarket's flickrSLiDR.
Of course, for their hard work & efforts, all the participants will receive a Zapgun as promised. We'll let you know when our top picks are ready to admire on the Greenies Fridge & at the Cannery.
GMF Festival Multi-language Bubble Blower
Gift #2: The Global Music Festival Bubble Emoter is an excellent gadget not only to be used at festivals, but during your daily explorings and party efforts on the Grid. Designed by Miss Ordinal Malaprop, it is of an exquisite make, containing the finest metals and soaps. This little toy will let you send messages in colourful bubbles to people nearby, in any one of several different languages!

How to get the Bubble Emoter gadget
That's easy, to get your very own Teleport to the Greenies Main Shop and near the entrance you will find the dispenser. The 'GMF - Rezzable & Languagelab - Bubble Emoter' is no-mod / copy / trans, so of course you can also ask a friend that already owns one for a copy!
Missed the GMF Backpaack and concert gear?! No worries, it's still available. Info here (scroll down a bit, it's in the middle of the page ;)).
How does this 'GMF Multi-language Bubble Blower' work, you say?
GMF Festival Multi-language Bubble Emoter Instructions
Drag the Bubble Emoter onto yourself, or right-click it and select "Wear". It should attach to your right hand and send you a message in chat to remind you of the instructions, and also tell you what languages it is currently set to translate between.
You can always get a command menu by either touching the emoter, or saying "/812 menu". The commands are:
Send! : Launch a bubble.
YourLang : The language to translate FROM. All the messages you see will be in this language.
TargLang : The language to translate TO. The message that your bubble's target receives will be in this language.
Web : Go to Language Lab's website.
Help : Get another copy of this notecard.
SENDING BUBBLES
To send a bubble message:
1. Select "Send!" from the menu as above, or say "/812 send!"
2. A blue menu will appear with a list of other people around you. Pick one. (If there is nobody else around, you won't be able to send a message....)
3. Pick a phrase in YOUR language. This will be translated once the bubble pops.
4. You will then send the bubble. It will float towards the person you picked, and, when it gets close enough, it will pop and deliver the message.
Enjoy the last day of the GMF festival,
and we hope to see you all Saturday October 4th, 11AM SLT at Greenies for the relaycast!
