Greenies are explorers: they look at the - virtual - world around them, and try to understand. They look at the avatars around them, and try to mimic their behaviour - in a very Greenie way that is. They look at the cultures around them and decide they want to be part of them. They saw the Tiny Avatars... and just fell in love.
Greenies & Tinies
Tinies are - although enjoyed by Europeans and Americans as well - a big part of the Japanese culture in the virtual world. Is it because Japanese people love details? Because they love cute? Or is it because they have a whole different 'cartoon' culture than ours: one where tiny and cute characters were always popular? I must be careful not to 'generalise' here. But the fact remains: if you want to be a tiny and you want to do it well: go to the Japanese sims in the Virtual World.
The Greenies were often told: 'Hey, you guys are like tinies. But... bigger.' Agreeing with this, the Greenies - in the footsteps of those settlers in the 15th century - went to look for a sim where they could create an Outpost: supplied by the Greenies Home Sim Shop, but with also their own range of products, adapted to the sim they live in. They found that place at Tiny Shotengai - Tiny Streets - at Tiny Kingdom. (click here to visit the Greenies Outpost at Tiny Kingdom)
Greenies at Tiny Shotengai
The Greenies settlers packed their ample belongings - a spoon, a spare key to the Greenies Home Sim, their pet and some space helmets - into their spaceship and rezzed off to Tiny Shotengai. As usual, parking the spaceship was kind of a problem for the Greenie behind the wheel.
When they finally arrived at Tiny Shotengai, they quickly started building their Outpost - in Green brick with cute little round windows - and dragging all their belongings to it. The Greenies, as busy as a hive of bees. It's an amazing sight! With the help of Mister Hiroaki Rhino and Miss Lemon Ashton the Greenies took a speed course in Japanese, and they are proud to announce that each Greenie in Tiny Shotengai speaks perfect Japanese now. Well, as perfect as their English, that is. Greenies do - as usual - their utter best to blend in. But hey, let's hear this from the Big Poobah Greenie himself:
Hi Tinies, fellow Greenies and other virtual beings,
We are very proud to tell you that we, the fabulous Greenies, have parked at at Tiny Kingdom.
A year ago, we rezzed in the virtual world, by accident - hey, space ships aren't easy to park! - and I confess:
We are having so much awesome fun exploring that we are not trying to get home! Not enough time!
When the word 'Tinies' first came to our Greenies ears,
it sounded like we - at last - found avies that are just as awesome as we are:
Funny, cute, always ready to explore and to make a l33t event out of virtual life.
We thought: 'We want to learn more about those tinies!'
Going to the Tiny Convention, we met Mr. Hiroaki.
Mr. Hiroaki was very friendly to us, and offered us a place to come and live,
outside our home sim. So we fiddled with our spaceship until it worked again, packed some of our stuff,
a spare key to the Greenies Home Sim, our hooverboards, zapguns, ...
and of course: our brand new Lady Greenie Tiny and Boy Greenie Tiny.
Now we are very much honoured to be here,
to be the newest avies living at Tiny Kingdom and a part of the lovely Tiny scene.
On our little Greenies hearts we swear, that we will do our utter best and all that is possible
to supply fun and cute avatars to all. We pledge allegiance to the Tiny way of life!
In name of the Greenies population,
Your big Poobah Greenie

Tiny Greenies

In Tiny Kingdom, suddenly, Greenies - who are used to feeling tiny in their Home Sim - felt incredibly big. So creating two cute little tiny avatars named 'Boy Greenie Tiny' ( タイニーグリーニー ボーイ ) and 'Girl Greenie Tiny' ( タイニーグリーニー ガール ) is probably one of the most sensible things those strange little Greenies ever did.
Greenies crossing Cultural Borders
We are proud of the Greenies: they are not just travelling and exploring virtual worlds but also different cultures. In this digital era distance is not the biggest obstacle to getting to know other people anymore, but language, customs and 'online times' are. We hope the Tiny Greenies at Tiny Shotengai will help us to learn from and understand Japanese Tiny Culture and Japanese culture as a whole better. Because you are never too old - nor too Green - to learn.
Tiny Universe Convention
Together with their arrival at Tiny Shotengai on Tiny Kingdom - which lasts for a month, make sure to check out all our interactive Greenies - Boy Tiny Greenie ( タイニーグリーニー ボーイ ) also takes part in the Tiny Universe Exhibition ( タイニーの宇宙展 ) that starts on May 25th and runs until June 1st.
Organised by Nobunaga Ogee and taking place on Dust it's a 'Tiny Show Off' in a Space theme where more than 50 tiny avatar creators display their best works.
It should be noted that Tiny Universe Convention is a event exclusively for Japanese tiny avatar creators, so we are honoured to be allowed to be a part of it!
Japanese for Virtual Worlds
We just now realise how difficult Japanese actually is. More difficult than we could even imagine. So here's a starter package, let's call it basic survival in Virtual World Japanese:
Virtual World = バーチャルライフ
Second Life = セカンドライフ
Buy = 買う
Price? =
Tiny avatar =
You look cute! =
LOL!
Hello, nice meeting you!
Are you a boy or a girl? =
Sorry, I crashed. =
Can you give me a landmark to that?
Of course, 'Rezzable' in Japanese stays as just 'Rezzable'! ;)
Lost Greenie - 500L$ reward
During the Greenies Arrival Process, one Greenie sadly got lost. He was last seen inside the spaceship. We are offering a 500L$ reward for the first three people that can show us photographic proof of where he is now. Just post the link here in the comments. Lost Greenie speaks some Japanese, but we are worried he will not be able to survive on his own.
