The T61 festival day at Gardenstock was one filled with great live music, friendly people and some technical issues: all performers gave the best of themselves, the public was in party modus and even pretty wild and Linden Lab decided Saturday is a great day for rolling restarts. Yeey!
But probably, that's not what you want to hear? Right... errr.. you want to know who won the 10000 L$, the Greenies Avatar and the paid gig at a Rezzable sim, right? Without further ado, and with the majority of votes, the 'public's choice' poll for the T61 party at Gardenstock was won by nobody less than Dolmere Talamasca, Toby Lancaster, Mimi Carpenter and Maximillion Kleene. Right, it's a quartet that won! Here they are - as photographed by Feline Slade doing their 'relaycast':

'Relaycast?', you say. Right, as they are the winners, this deserves some more explanation. As Dolmere explains on his blog 'relaycasting' is a term that refers to internet performances where the audio streams are layered on their way to the audience. Normally, as the stream makes its way from one location to another the feed is simply handed off to the next interested party. However, with "realycasting" the stream is tuned in by another musician. The 2nd musician routes the audio stream through their recording gear and layers their own additions to the stream (red lines in the graphic above.) Then the result is broadcast to their streaming server (yellow lines) where listeners tune in (blue lines.) With each leg of the trip a layer of audio is added, and a layer of DELAY is added. Each musician in line may hear what came before and may add their own content over top, each musician that came BEFORE will not hear anything added after they submit their stream. So with a great sound that travels over Germany, England, and two different locations in the USA to your home, they definitely deserve their awards! Congratulations!
A lot of thanks go also to all other performers - they all brought great sounds - and Suka Nishi for being Event Manager. Y'all did great! An overview of the live musicians that performed at the T61 party at Gardenstock - and where to bump them you may find here.
Of course, as we asked the people why their favourite band should win, we got a lot of nice comments about the musicians. Here are some:
- For Soundcircel Flanagan: Soundcircel is new kind of artist who brings a new sound to sl. - Sound ROCKS!!!! - I love this music and how original it is. - He can play the gitar like nobody else
- For the Relaycasters: Awesome sound especially since none of them are close to each other. A whole lot of talent involved in performing when you are in the same room, how about different continents? - 4 way relay! - I'm always proud of my parents :D - Mimi makes me randy, baby, yeah!
- For Quinton Whitman: Variety, great voice and awesome guitar!
- For The Professor: I enjoyed Him...
- For Juel Resistance: She is a wonderful singer and talented artist. she is funny too :D - Because she is the Best singer in SL PERIOD!!
- For Cylindrian Rutabaga: Cyl's voice is incredibly expressive, and she's gotten *so* comfortable in her role of showing us all the images she's seeing when she's writing these songs. I stay up late to listen, or tune in from work, whatever it takes. Cylindrian woooot!
