48 Hour Film Project Seeks New Machinima Producer

The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and a team make a movie — you write, shoot, edit and score it—in just 48 hours!

The 48 Hour Film Project is now looking for a new Machinima Producer. She or he will be responsible for getting the word out about the Machinima 48HFP; securing a way to screen the films; running the kickoff, dropoff, and screenings; and making sure the filmmakers have a good time. Knowledge of virtual worlds and editing programs are essential, as are organizational, communication, and writing skills.

This is a paid position, and you would be working remotely from home. Please note that the Machinima Producer cannot participate in the 48 Hour Film Project, themselves. I

Modelling Tutorial Part 2

When I first made my modelling walk tutortial, I never thought it would end up becoming a series.  I had just wanted to play around with filming in SL, and to demonstrate some tricks that we use while runway modelling.  But today I bring you part 2 of the modelling series which deals with quick changes.  While the concept of quick change folders is very simple and practical, I have encountered numerous people who have never heard of them.

The great thing about quick change folders is that they don't apply to only models, but are an essential for the average SL user as well.  I hope my demonstration of how to create a quick change folder is beneficial to you!  Again, for some reason with uploading quality goes down, but I hope it is still bearable to watch ;)

Role playing in SL

Many of us have role played (RP'd) sometime in their life, either on forums, games, or LARP (live action role play).  However, secondlife creates a great medium for those us of who enjoy RPing, but don't live close to a LARP area/genre but enjoy live interaction.  SL also provides ablities that we aren't able to perform in RL, such as flying and themed builds.  I love to RP, as it links me to my acting roots, and gives me a chance to explore different aspects of life and characters.  I was a text based RPer, before coming to SL, and jumped at the chance to test my RP skills in live time.  Although time no longer allows me to RP, it still holds a dear place in my heart.

An SL Sitcom

SL is a land where dreams and fantasies come true.  Normal people join Secondlife everyday, and explore, discover, develop skills and abilities they never had.  Phaylen Fairchild is one of those people.  Having joined Secondlife at the end of it's Alpha testing, Phaylen and her friends/team have developed the very popular DiVAS sitcom

A Model Tutorial

I was talking to Lokum the other day about training for models, and she suggested that we should host a training.  I was a bit sceptical at first as full training takes about 2-3 hours per person, and with a big group, people wouldn't get the focus they deserve.  So I thought, hmmm, I'll give doing a tutorial a try.  Well that has lead me down the road of frustration.

I tried many, many different video capture programs (that are freeware), such as WeGame, and I found the best to be fraps.  The only drawback with fraps is that you are only allowed to capture 30 secs of video for free.  So back to the drawing board.  I finally decided upon CamStudio, which although the quality and voice syncing aren't perfect, they served the purpose well enough for this short tutorial.

Alien Love Story: Vid about a boy, a saucer and chick who is out of this world

It's a story of a boy, a saucer and love in the virtual world. Is falling in love alien to avatars? Not in this wacky visit to the Greenies Home.  Totally fun original music by Music by Mark Silverman. Big thanks to Larkworthy for making this and sharing with us all!  Live Green and Prosper!

Music Videos - Machinima Style

As former manager of the Rezzable club, Crimson Shadow, it is obvious that I have a love and passion for music.  Music is like breathing to me, I would die without it.  Through my work with Rezzable on the Machinima Festival, I discovered a whole new world to explore, in which music, video and secondlife come together.  I will begin an exploration through the world of machinimas, and share with you my discoveries and thoughts.  Some may not be great, but have caught my eye for some reason, and others will take your breath away in their composition.  And what better way to kick off this series than to share some Secondlife music videos that have for one reason or another drew my attention.

Everything written here is purely my opinion, not influenced in anyway by anyone, and anything said is not done with malicious intent.
