To satisfy your curiosity, we've found some photographs from the last time I visited the Rezzable HQ in London. Sadly enough, RaR succeeded at escaping the camera BUT I did get a few nice ones from Miss Lokum:

Ok. I guess I screwed the 'secret' part up. Anyway, our R&D department says that it's going fine, but we're encountered some minor problems with letting a diversity of animations grow inside. Also, inserting Mono into the tree's DNA is giving us some problems.

Wizard Gynoid opens the world of the 8th Dimension on the Second Life virtual world grid today. It is a stunning and intriguing area where math and high concept energize the 3D web. The "Passions of Black Swan" event has come to a close after twenty of SL's most talented designers came together to bring you their own take on the magic of Black Swan through their creations.  Timeless Modeling Agency will showcase these designs one last time at 2 pm SL today to finish the event with a flourish.  Be sure to arrive early and follow the path to be able to have a front row seat as the models walk the runway one last time.

Every good thing has an end. We have been delighted with the beautiful creations from Passions of Black Swan for the past two weeks. During the past two shows, I have met some great talent and wonderful people and we had a chance to open the doors of Black Swan to many visitors who truly enjoyed the whole experience.

The Passions of Black Swan is closing today with a great big fashion show organised by Timeless Agency today at 2pm and an after party.  I would like to invite everyone  to join one last time and celebrate the endless possibilities  of creativity in SL so come and join us in Black Swan at 2pm.

What is the E8 Polytope?

A “Polytope” is a higher dimension polyhedron and the E8 Polytope lives in the 8th Dimension.

The results from our visitor poll show that most people (51%) do not use inworld voice.  27% however, do like to use voice when they can.

This is a predicatable result really. 

Predictable because the core of SL users are accustom to inworld activities without voice as many people do not have confidence that it works well. Also the core SL user prefer to maintain some distance between their RL and SL personas--voice is in fact a very personal thing to share. Voice also breaks the immersion more than it adds to the inworld experience.

Maybe there is also a lack of compelling inworld content where voice is needed. Maybe the new open Vivox toolset will be a basis for new voice oriented content?

Finally, skype is a better alternative to inworld voice as there are more contacts possible and better quality. Where inworld chat is essential (and maybe should be improved to add value to inworld experience) voice is not so useful right now.

The team over at Phatcat's is putting the whole area up for auction on eBay. Check info on their site here  Why would they do this and what is it worth to someone else?

The why is easy enough--too much work to maintain a popular site and not enough revenue from running it.

Eventually anyone would get tired and need to move on. But why is running an area in SL so unprofitable?  Answer: costs and complexity are increasing over time, while new users are not growing--so how much is your customer base worth when it is not on aggressive growth. Not enough is what it is.  It's a great deal for Linden Labs to get people to work and make "wonderous" stuff--for less than what you can make stuffing cold cuts into a sub sandwich. We know Linden is making dough (and a lot apparently) but where's the upside for the mainstream content creators and area operators? Is the grid only profitable for porno and land speculators?

We begged for more and more and it still wasn't enough. I got this Avatar song rattling around in my head now. If you missed this moment in grid history...too bad really, but you can still replay and replay and replay the song here. And of course the other wack track from Foolish--Prim in My Hand, the ultimate mantra for the virtual world builders. Foolish rocks and we are thankful!

When Clio Cardiff was looking for inspiration to create her "Passions of Black Swan" dress, she found it at the very heart of the sim.  Her gown "Embrace" came from the statue in the middle of Black Swan depicting a man and a woman tightly holding each other.  The statue is one of the many pieces from Light Waves. This master of prim sculpture first envisioned Black Swan and gave it life, especially with his towering statues placed within it like the one Clio loves.
