The fashion industry was struck with sadness just three short weeks ago when Lee "Alexander" McQueen took his life. It sent shockwaves through both first and second life; and people have rallied together to show tributes and appreciation of his genius. Achariya had guest bloggers on her site to create a look based on their intepretation of his work, and I was one of the people invited, you can see more on how I feel about him here.  Avenue Models have had an association with Rezzable; they've been entrusted with presenting our last two fashion events. And they moved into action with a feature of their own, For The Love of McQueen.

You think you have it hard on Valentine's Day? Try being a business alt. I never get to do anything fun. Oh, sure - I get the best clothes on the grid when I get dragged out for blogging, but most of the time I just get stuffed back into inventory and left there to rot. Most alts get to do all the wicked stuff, participate in orgies, and frequent the sims that you wouldn't tell your SL Mom about. How I got the reputation for being a skank I'll never know. As for love? Forget it. Paisley Beebe of Treet TV has had a great idea, and a wonderful offer right now. 2010 - The Future Is Now and is happenning in every second we waste in pointless issues. What matters is now and how fast we want to enjoy our future.

Most science fiction novels and stories focus on alternate future or alternative futures where it is believed that the future is toxic. Errr... that the air is no longer breathable (thus the gas mask). In some of my dreams, this is how I portrayed the future. Note that an alternate future is not a possible future; it's merely how someone imagines the future.

What if we could time travel? Would you? Would your future be toxic...?

Last I reported, I left with the sorrowful prospect of sentience thrown away. But with the dark, there is light, and with a negative outlook of the future, there is an optimistic one awaiting. As current issues ask what we throw away, they also pose the question, "What will we grow in the future?"

As humanity races forward to the future, we have run smack into challenges that threaten to overthrow us. Over the past decade, the issue of environmentalism has swelled with our expanding global connections and consequences for past generations' actions come to the forefront. Therefore, when we look at is yet to be, it is not just relevant, but critical to consider the question, "What will we throw away?"

No matter what we do, we always do it planning ahead knowing that a tomorrow will come. The future exists in our linear conception of time and is yet to occur but it is there, not far. Could you go to sleep at time knowing that there will be no tomorrow...?

Our collective idea of future comes from the past. Decades ago, it was commom believe that the world would be cold, metallic, plastic, neon, vinyl, leather, latex, shiny, cyber. Well, I am still expecting to see it as crude as that. Meanwhile, some designers have shared with us their take for the future.

Sleek, metallic urban centers with cybernetic details is one predominant perspective of what our world will look like the in future, along with the bleak outlook of a battered dystopia blanketing the planet. There is another major view, however, inspired by when we cast our eyes upward. The cosmic bodies of the universe have been researched and mundanely explained over the past century, yet still their wonder endures...

The fashion industry has never been one to wait around for societal norms to jump into a new era, and the runways in multiple worlds lately have been graced with sleek, edgy designs hailing from the future. Rezzable's 2010 - The Future is Now event has collected a number of the best creators to focus our scopes on what may be in store fo us, and I managed to catch one of the designs in action- the Razor Girl by +DV8+.
