Shall we call creative activity play?

I come to that question from a blog post, Playing with Pixels, by Jaen Wirefly.   (Of course, I got that post through the services of my Google Reader.)

And the phrase reminds me of a comment by the well-known Second Life artist, Juria Yoshikawa, about his experience in coming into Second Life.

“…I started to rediscover the sense of play…”

RMB City

RMB City is an online art community in the virtual world of Second Life. This project is an experiment exploring the creative relationship between real and virtual space, and is a reflection of China's urban and cultural explosion. In Second Life it consists of 4 sims - RMB City 1 to 4 - at time of writing. Cao Fei and her avatar China Tracy explain it to us:

"A city dubbed RMB City is being built in Second Life by China Tracy. It's a city that is a condensed incarnation of contemporary Chinese cities with most of their characteristics; a series of new Chinese fantasy realms that are highly self-contradictory, inter-permeative, pan-political, extremely entertaining, and laden with irony and suspicion."

The bogon flux is a plumbing accident that assembles itself into an organic slum through a continuous struggle of growth and decay.
