Rupert Murdoch is trying to stir up interest in paying for online content--mainly in the face of Google giving access to more and more content for free. Murdoch is also pushing MySpace toward social gaming in an effort to monetize that (sinking?) platform.
So what does this mean for digital content creators? It would seem that there is potential for catching the push toward pay-to-play and also the digital goods marketplace, which is greater than $650 million this year in the US alone. But does all this "growth/opportunity" mean that it will be a money making activity to dive into the mix with the big players? Maybe it will just be a freebie smash-up yielding a few bucks at the cost of many.
