The virtual power-liners

What is it that we can do with the internet + virtual environments?  You have no idea.  And we only have a glimmer.  But here are a few hints.

Powerliner = power user of online services

The Streamy awards

“As the first and most prestigious awards devoted to honoring excellence in web television, the Streamy Awards identify and celebrate the pioneers laying the groundwork for a new and dynamic entertainment medium. “

In Second Life, we produce a lot of videos.  That is a lot like producing web television.  So much so that several performers and video producers in Second Life will submit their work for the streamy awards.  Here is my promotional theme:

Vote to Promote

A vote for these people is a vote for Second Life video.  Maybe it will get some notice from the SL blogosphere.  Maybe it will get Streamy to set up some VR categories for next year.

Maleficent Video Party in London: Where the Wild Roses Grow Release

We had the great chance to meet the band--Maleficent when we made the firey Mary Mayhem video / machinima featuring their music. (Check it here). Yeah, it is some hot stuff. But so is Maleficent herself, former Royal Ballet ballerina turned singer, rocker. I have not actually seen them peform live--yet, so the upcoming video release party and performance looks like just the ticket to snap up. (and btw this is in the real world in the real London--£'s only no lindos!). And we will be sure to take lots of photos of Maleficent's awesome outfits...

48 Hour Film Project Seeks New Machinima Producer

The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and a team make a movie — you write, shoot, edit and score it—in just 48 hours!

The 48 Hour Film Project is now looking for a new Machinima Producer. She or he will be responsible for getting the word out about the Machinima 48HFP; securing a way to screen the films; running the kickoff, dropoff, and screenings; and making sure the filmmakers have a good time. Knowledge of virtual worlds and editing programs are essential, as are organizational, communication, and writing skills.

This is a paid position, and you would be working remotely from home. Please note that the Machinima Producer cannot participate in the 48 Hour Film Project, themselves. I

Swansong - The Last Fashion Event in Black Swan

In the past, Rezzable has organised some wonderful fashion events in Black Swan. It all started with Fashion Inspired by Black Swan back in August 2008 . Then we had Passions of Black Swan, Winter Magic. Each and every single one was a great pleasure to organise and share with the fashion lovers, desginers, and bloggers. These events combine the magical side of Black Swan all built by the creative mind of Lightwaves with the passion of each designer that participate in the events and of course the wonderful SL community that support the hard work of the organisers and designers.

'In the mood' Machinima contest winner

Rezzable set a little challenge for the machinima lovers to produce a short film using the royalty free version of the music 'St. Louis Blues' by William Christopher Handy, written in 1914. Announcing the winners of this challenge:

Ciskovan's 'Men die as dogs' die grabs the first prize with a dramatic and a powerful short film featuring the cast who are the characters of his DREAM ON/OFF movie – you can watch the episodes on his site in a you tube album with the same title. Congratulations to cisko vandeverre on his great work and good luck in his future filming.

Profile Magazine Today on King Tut Virtual

Sophia Yates on King Tut VirtualSophie Yates at Profile Magazine Today has written a review on King Tut Virtual, spicing it up with a neat machinima. Miss Yates says this is the first time she saw this level of visual imagery quality with objects in this virtual world. Yeey! More friendly words: "I really saw the 3D effect there and the interaction for the viewer that was provided was very well done."

"There are quit a few good exhibits going on now but this ones the best 3D, interactive one that really demonstrates how in the future virtual worlds like SL can be applied to so many other subjects either it be history, in the medical field or in the classroom."

Virtual Dreams Vid: Immortal Mary Mayhem sets your pc on fire

smoking hot machinima, real HD film mash-up

Prepare your fire extinguisher! Our first Immortal is starring in one of the hottest videos. It begins in a restless sleep, ends in mash of blazing flames, mesh, avatars and sultry looks. Ya, check it out in its full HD plus super saturated machinima mixed-reality glory.

We had the chance to fly up to Sweden and film the real Mary Mayhem as she guzzled lamp oil and set the place on fire. Mary eats fire, breathes fire and generally lavishes it with her kind attentions--both in the real world and the virtual. Huh?  We then shot some footage inside our virtual areas at Crimson Shadow and Black Swan with Mary Mayhem the avatar. Then we found some xlent music from Maleficent "Black Mass Destruction". Check the resulting vid: Virtual Dreams below or on our Rezzable YouTube channel. (please fav and rate! comments greatly appreciated!).

"In the Mood"

In the Mood

Frequently as aspiring artists, we are required to obtain liscencing for use of other materials in our works.  Often when you are just starting out, you do not have the money needed to obtain these liscences which can become a hinderance, or other, dubious ways are explored in order to go around these restrictions.

We would like to present a contest where it is in support of aspiring machinima makers to find ambient music that will fit their themes without gray legal areas, or exorbitant prices.  A public domain song has been chosen, with which you are to create a machinima around it.  Once your work has been created, you will embed it in the post, for your chance to win 15,000L.
