King Tut Exhibit Round Up

Needless to say, Rezzable is pretty proud of the King Tut sim.  It's a sheer virtual wonder that really captures the essence of the Egyptian dig and the treasures found.  It seems this exhibit has inspired much of the SL blogosphere as well.   Since it's now closed (but you can go visit King Tut Virtual on the Heritage Key Grid), I want to present to you some excerpts, links, photos, and machinma from those of you that posted about the display. Additionally, I wanted to say a GREAT BIG THANK YOU from Rezzable for taking the time to write, photo or film.

"In grand Rezzable style, the experience includes a visit to the afterlife of Tutankhamen, his treasures transformed to giant size amid a constellation of stars and a walkway composed of DNA strands." - Sponsor Partner, Hamlet Au

King Tut and the Exploreum Experience

Rezzable has just opened its preview of its King Tut virtual exhibition.  This exhibition is not only about King Tut, but also a demonstration of Rezzable research into the best use of  virtual world technology.  As usual with virtual worlds, you really have to be there.  But I will give a picture tour here, by way of showing people why they might want to be there.

Opening view of the Tut exhibitYou arrive by teleport at a landing pad high above a map of the area.  The pad offers an overview of the area and several docent signs with background information in spoken narration.   You also get a notecard with these credits:

VMOA - Virtual Museum of Art in Apfelland

Gottfried Helnwein is a well known and prolific photographer and painter in real life- and one of the first to have his almost his entire body of work shown in one museum in SL. Disturbing, beautiful, controversial and technically stunning- this exhibit covers several decades of the artist's work and is a must-see for anyone interested in how real world artwork can be shown in the virtual realm.
