Stupid Cupid

You think you have it hard on Valentine's Day? Try being a business alt. I never get to do anything fun. Oh, sure - I get the best clothes on the grid when I get dragged out for blogging, but most of the time I just get stuffed back into inventory and left there to rot. Most alts get to do all the wicked stuff, participate in orgies, and frequent the sims that you wouldn't tell your SL Mom about. How I got the reputation for being a skank I'll never know. As for love? Forget it. Paisley Beebe of Treet TV has had a great idea, and a wonderful offer right now. For a donation to the studio of 3k she will read your message of love out live on air for all 20,000 viewers to see, and it will stay in cyberspace for all eternity. I'm not holding my breath - my owner is more in love with himself than he''ll ever be with me. *Sigh...*

The Fabulous gowns of Digit Darkes

Today's post is dedicated to the fabulous creations of Digit Darkes. Many of you got to know her brand by now as she been around quite a while. She also took part on several Rezzable Events like Digital Alchemy and the first edition of Black Swan. I never made it a secret that I am a huge fan of her since the 1st hour, so is Lokum and asked me to give it a go on a blog about my favorite dresses of Digit Darkes. Totally fell in love with this idea as I'm quite impressed how she keeps getting better with each release and on top of that, what is possible nowadays in SL, in terms of designing and building.

What comes to mind when you think of Egypt?

Visions of pyramids and Cleopatra's exotic eyes conjure up such a heady combination of ancient times. When Egyptians still roam the land in their distinctive sandals and magnificent head dresses, the universe was probably still thinking long and hard whether they should grace this world with my presence.
It would have been awesome had I been born during those times when you could snag a pharaoh and live such a hedonistic life. Imagine lounging all day, eating grapes and having servants gently fanning you with
peacock feathers. Then there's  this lavish table filled with glorious food and wine served in heavy goblets made of gold and rubies. The
feast never ends and the food never runs out so you never have to worry about ordering take out food from that ornery guy at the Chinese restaurant in the corner. Aaaah, the lovely vision and times gone by.

On a recent trip, I decided, I'm a 'water' person. Gosh I love water. It's pretty much all I drink, but this isn't about that. I'm lucky enough to live by the sea, and I adore that. It's wonderful to just be able to go there, and stare at the waves, if it's nice day, the water's a stunning azure colour, and if it's cloudy, it's a mystical greeny grey, the sound is so calming and yet exciting, and just...yay, the sea. I assumed, of course, my heart just belonged to the ocean, having lived by it almost all my life, but a trip inland took me variously meandering along and beside a large river, on assorted trains, and I was equally entranced by it, the reflections, the bridges, the buildings standing proudly along it's banks, the way it was an obstacle and an enhancement and a route and a beautiful, beautiful thing. But for all my adoration of all things wet (lakes are pretty neat too), the ancient Egyptians revered their primary source of fresh water more highly than I ever could.

The diligent readers among you may have noticed that this particular blog is in fact a team effort, I, Nivaya Barbosa, am your writer, and the gorgeous photography, styling, and modelling in the pictures are provided by the beautiful SerinaJane Loon. For the most part, we're a smashing team, her photo-ing skills far outstripping mine, and my writing containing fewer typos than hers! There do, however, exist some difficulties in this arrangement on occasion, arising mainly from the fact that the stunner in the pictures is not actually me. Allow me to explain. Anyone who has seen Serina and I inworld together will know of the stark contrasts between our appearances, I being a petite, pale skinned, aqua-eyed, occasionally freckled redhead with a taste for the alternative and quirky, and Serina being tall, strong, athletic and dark skinned, and always looking as if she's stepped straight from the impeccable pages of Vogue. In this case, the particular difference is one of skin tone.
