Photos and movies for non-commercial and press use allowed, for other reproductions and commercial use contact the artist. You want to sell them? Guess what, you can't. Unless you get permission from the artist(s) in question.
Who does the Rezzable Garden of NPIRL Delights belong to?
Over 100 people helped create the experience called 'The Rezzable Garden of NPIRL Delights', which raises an important question: 'Now, who does The Garden belong too?'
The answer to that huge question? For each and every tiny little bit, the copyright lies with the creator of that prim, texture or script. If you may or may not copy, reproduce, photograph, machinima or re-sell that item, depends on what the creator prefers.
Licenses
According to all copyright laws if you create something, it is yours and protected. Not as much as it would be when it was registered, but still, nobody may claim it is theirs, or use it without your permission. You then can decide what you want to do with it:
- Keep full copyright. Nobody may use it.
- Donate to the public domain. Everybody is free to use it for whatever they wish.
- Share it. People may use it, but there are restrictions. The most common licenses used for this are Creative Commons (for art, copy, ...) and GPL and BSD (for software, scripts, ...).
The Garden is a public area
Although the Garden of NPIRL building festival is held on private owned simulators, you could may compare it to a park, a RL festival or a musueum. All places that are public areas. So we consider The Garden to be just that. Of course, there is some law enforcement present. ;)
Photography and Machinima
What goes for the real world also goes for the virtual world? Not always, but in this case, yes: the artists are glad to have their work and display for all to see, but think it is only common decency that if you photograph -snapshot- , film -machinima- or do sound recordings of their works and use that footage somewhere, you mention that they spend ages torturing prims, LSL and wrapping up textures. If you use that footage for commercial motives in anyway, please consult the artists first and ask if they are ok with that.
So you should consider the whole Garden of NPIRL Delights to be under a creative commons attribution non-commercial license, unless the artist specifies different at his or her build.
This means that:
- You may photograph and machinima the creations at the Garden of NPIRL Delights.
- You need to clearly mention the name of the artist and their work if you publish photographs or machinima somewhere. As we - be it virtual or real - live in the digital age, links to webpages for the artists are encouraged.
- You may not use photographs or machinima taken at the Garden of NPIRL Delights for commercial purposes unless you have permission from all the artists of which you display works.

Play nice!
And something really nice to do? If you photograph or machinima someone's creation and put it online, let them know about it! Send an IM telling them 'Hey, I just loved your work that much that I show it *insert location*'. Or even better, share it with the artists and the world, by adding a comment to their artist profiles that mentions where your interpretation of their virtual works of art can be found.
