Zapgun Manual

How to use the Zapgun

Wear the Zapgun, enter mouselook (either by pressing the "M" key or selecting "Mouselook" from the "View" menu) and click the mouse button to fire a light energy bolt. Hold down the mouse button to charge the Zapgun, then release it after a second to release a Special Ray.

A Zapgun user who is hit by energy bolts will gradually have their gun become damaged - though it will repair itself over time. You can wear the Zapgun HUD to show how much damage you've received so far.

Once your Zapgun has reached over 100% damage, it will break - you have been zapped!

Special Rays

Select a Special Ray to fire by clicking one of the buttons on the HUD.

Starbust Ray

The Starburst Ray causes a huge explosion when it hits, doing over double damage and blowing the target up in the air!

Greenies Hypno-Ray

The Greenies Hypno-Ray will only have the standard effect on a normal person, but has an unpredictable effect on any Greenie that it hits. They will be hypnotised temporarily, believing themselves to be a dancer, a martial artist, made of rubber... while they are out of touch with reality, they will be an easy target.

Trap Mine

A Trap Mine is a special fire mode which creates a small robot with a nasty temper, to guard an area for you. Fire a Trap Mine at the ground or a solid object - when it lands it will wait until somebody comes within three metres of it, then leap at them and explode, doing normal bullet damage. (Careful - it will jump at you, too.) After thirty seconds it will explode harmlessly on its own.

You can only have up to six trap mines active in a sim at any one time, by galactic law.

Zapgun Scoreboard

You can see the latest results, your own scores, and who you've zapped and been zapped by, if you visit the Greenies Zapgun Scoreboard site. Just go the following address in your browser:

Special Options

Saying '/7 anim' will allow you to turn animations for the zapgun on and off. This can be useful if, for instance, you have an avatar with a very specific AO that you do not want to override - for example, a tiny.
