The Build

Unconsious Crucifixion - Dark Night of the Soul

About the Build

My build was/is inspired by Salvador Dali's piece "Crucifixion" (Corpus Hypercubus, 1954). . I wanted to take a step further into this piece and try and express what Dali hinted at. Furthermore, I attempt to go beyond this into other levels and to some areas in us that are often unconscious, or what might be considered a "Dark Night of the Soul".

About the Artist

"Gary is certainly the most talented and versatile artist in Second Life I have had the pleasure of knowing. He has been a "custom creator" for Kitchen Korner for a while and his work excels in texturing and sclupties. He enjoys what he does and his artistic work shows that he loves everything he does. He pushes his talent to SL's cutting edge and is certainly an up and coming artist and content creator. " [Karamel Madison, CEO Kitchen Korner]

"Gary Kohime- My dearest dependable , patient and loving friend He is always creative and willing to approach new horizons and always willing to try my crazy designs at least attempt them , he always comes though for me." [Tempest McLeod. CEO, Celebrations Unlimited & Co.]

"Gary has an expression for art that goes beyond just virtually "seeing" his work. His art and creations takes you to a place that reveals so much of the heart and soul of his creations. He has been able to achieve what most artist's hope to convey in their work and that is the realism and most of all the passion he feels for everything he creates. He constantly amazes people with his expression and soul behind everything he creates." [Raina Robertson]

As an SL artist, I've written many poems about SL, in fact I have one that I will unveil at opening day of this event. Also, I've worked with sculpts since they came out and been looking for ways to make high quality sculpted objects using tools that are little to no cost, this is what will take SL to the next level.

Artist Biography

Part of life that could apply to what I do with respect to art: I have always had an artistic vision, (yet to be fully realized, but I think I'm close) I have been a web/blog site developer, somewhat of a digital artist, and poet, on and off for about 15 years, actually poetry for many more years. I would not say I'm an expert in art. I would say, I have confidence in what I can do, and the energy/ambition, given the opportunity, to do things beyond my current level of experience. My motto is: "Giving Form to Words, Giving Words to Form".

Izikael Novi

Izikael Novi is contributing to Gary Kohime's 'Unconsious Crucifixion'. The underground labyrinth under the cross is meant to symbolize the dark zone, the "dark night of the soul",..hell. This is her workplace. She has attempted to create this atmosphere of a dark and sinister environment by the use of her art: pictures and sculpted reliefs, as elements to create this effects.

'Izikael's art is the essence of dreams. Her impressions are magical and surreal. Her techniques are as varied and yet, as complimentary as her color palette. Some pieces contain an entire world within them. Others are more representative of a single, though complex, idea. An awe-inspiring talent. An inner world of three dimensional dreams, as Art.' Zanza Marx, Midsomer

'I have known Izikael for a long time and she is an inspiration to me and others in the SL Community. Izikael is an AMAZING artist and her work speaks volumes! I own several pieces :)' Missbehavin Neva, Midnight Reflections, Secret Reflections.

Izikael says: 'I am a danish artist, composer and musician, but the visual art is first priority to me. In RL I work free-lance with 3d graphics and as an illustrator for various magazines. I think the most wonderful thing about art, all arts, is the possibility of open interpretation, and personal experience. Everybody gets their own subjective experience from what they encounter, and if I can touch emotional layers in people, where they get a feeling, a mood from watching my art, my goal here is achieved.'

Many thanks go out to:
