Welcome to your hell…or paradise or vision of earth! Thank-you for participating in the Garden of NPIRL Delights.

BUILDING STARTS 28 APRIL 8pm SLT

Why did we set-up this Build Festival?

We wanted to find a way to let creative people work on a common theme to create something unique, amazing—bigger than what can be done alone. We are sure that the whole thing will be more exciting and engaging than the sum of the parts. But, also this is an experiment—so we are not sure what will happen exactly.

What should participants make?

That is really up to you. It would be great if you could work with the other participants to try to make the builds flow together somehow. Maybe share some textures, overlap a few prims…maybe even do more collaborative builds. We know many people are used to working alone—here’s a chance to collaborate (take it or leave it).

Where should I put my stuff?

Anywhere you want in the zone you are approved for. You can cross zones if you think that is cool also, but maybe wait a few days until everyone has found their spot please. If you build needs a lot of space, it might be useful to put out some markers so people know where you are working. Also, feel free to keep moving stuff around until you find the right place.

What if other builders are annoying me or ruining my build?

Well, wouldn’t it be great if everyone just got along! Try to sort stuff out between each other. Really, we hate to deal with silly stuff and would think 4 sims is enough room where you can find a place that is ok for you and the people around you.

Will you be asked to move or adjust your build?

You might, so link it where you can! In general we will occassionally have a look around and make some suggestions to improve over all space. Move or re-orient stuff might help. Ultimately it will be up to the builder, but if you are unreasonable in our opinion…er..well..we reserve the right to return stuff whenever we think it is necessary.

What if other people want to participate even after 27th April?

We still have lots of prims available, so more people would be good. However they will need to be more specific about how their build will add to what is already being done. So a reccomendation from a participant would make it a lot easier to understand if it is going to add something cool or not.

How will people find your stuff?

Well, you can tell them the sim and x,y,z coordinates. We will have various TPs and guided tours. Also paths will be put in place with some markers. We will probably control access to areas via the Dump sim. Any further ideas on this would be great. We know this is a pain, but it increases the overall visitor experience. We want to encourage exploration and discovery, so if you just want your friends to zap-in fast and see you stuff, then zap-out, well maybe this isn’t right event for you.

Who can you contact for what?

  1. Bettina Tizzy: inspiration, artistic dilemnas, ideas for promoting event
  2. RightAsRain Rimbaud: uh,...general, non-critical questions?
  3. Vint Falken, Gweneth Lange: music and events scheduling
  4. Beatrix Newt: build issues, terrain, technical issues
  5. further participants should still email to npirldelights@rezzable.com

Things to be careful about (sorry if this is so obvious):

  1. Keep textures small 256×256 is usually fine. It would seem unlikely you will need 1024×1024 (unless you want to be in the newbie area…)
  2. We are concerned about lag, so watch your scripts and open channels and the dreaded physical
  3. Watch for lights and particles. People still have client-side issue to rezz all this stuff.
  4. we generally hate full-bright on textures, so unless you wanna hear us moan about that please avoid unless needed.
  5. Megaprims still seem ok to us, but remember babes in high heels lost their feet some put a little path around walking areas in prim
  6. Sculptie prims can lag out the sim if overloaded with them. Mega+sculptie seems ok, but it is combination of them too often that looks problematic.
  7. Any advertising for anything is immediate return of your stuff and ejection from group

If you want to re-read the build submission information, that's of course possible.
