Mavi Beck is Italian, she was born in Florence on a very very very hot day of August and but when she was 5 she moved to a much more boring city in the North of Italy, near Milan where she lives with her crazy American husband.
Mavi rezzed in Second Life on January 31st 2007. Her journey in this world began out of curiosity after reading a blog of a real life friend of hers who posted about a wonderful world called Second Life; a few weeks after reading that blog entry Mavi first logged on. Not knowing what to really do she tried at first to make herself look presentable, so that people wouldn't treat her like a complete loser, then she started hanging out in Italian sims to understand what to make of this virtual world, but the boredom and emptiness of those places put her off SL for a while. Then she decided to give it another try and revealed herself to her friend, Franci Kubrick.
Franci introduced Mavi to a whole different and much more interesting scene, together with some friends he had just finished building a club inspired by Stanley Kubrick's movie A Clockwork Orange called Korova Milk Bar. Mavi started hanging out at the club where she found her home, she began working there as a dancer, then became manager, DJ and eventually owner of the club when the original founder members decided to leave SL. Korova Milk Bar is Mavi Beck's adoptive child, she kept the club as it was originally planned, that is a free place for everybody to hang out, and where quality music can be enjoyed. Other than Italian Mavi Beck speaks English fluently, she has a good grasp of German, French, Spanish and if you talk to her in Danish she might understand that too, so watch out what you say around her! :)
Mavi is an easygoing kind of girl who loves meeting new people, travelling and listening to music. She started as a DJ at Korova pushed by her friends, it was not her first experience as she used to have her own radio show in a couple of local stations. She missed the feeling of sharing the music she loves with people, so she decided to give it a try! The trick for her is to play the music she loves, hoping that someone in the audience may find something they find interesting, Mavi really feels happy when she's DJing and someone asks her about this or that song.
Mavi is an omnivorous listener, as a child of the '80s and as an old time Goth (Mavi is in her late 30s) she is all for Goth music and new wave, but she also enjoys many different genres such as Britpop, Industrial (one of her favourite bands is Nine Inch Nails), Ambient (yey for Aphex Twin and FSOL!), Indie rock and classical music. As she listens to a bunch of different stuff, at her club she usually plays a mix ranging from alt rock to Goth to pop, she plays anything as long as it's something she really enjoys and makes people dance!
Mavi's favourite Rezzable sim is the lesser known Darklands cemetery. She is a cemetery buff, in fact one of her favourite places in the world is Highgate Cemetery in London where she literally spends hours whenever she's in town, that's why she loves Darklands so much, she wishes such a places existed in real life!
Mavi's other passions in Second Life are modeling and taking photographs, as she says "I'm a tourist wannabe artist, I take pictures of almost anything"! You can check Mavi's pictures at her Flickr stream.
