Layja Vidor

Layja Vidor (Portrait)

Layja Vidor - in charge of EXXESS Designs - has been in the virutal world of Second Life for already quite a while: 1 year and 7 months to be exact. She registered for Second Life when Starwars Galaxies got screwed and playing Everquest for several months got very boring. Layja did not want to start palkying World of Warcraft so the only nice alternative was Second Life. In January 2007 she registered. Up to now, she's only active in one virtual world - her Starwars Galaxies and Everquest past aside - and she plans on sticking to it.

A bracelet for around your leg - or a chain, actually - was Layja Vidor's first creation in Second Life, just playing around with prims. No tutorials or anything, she learned it the hard way: by doing it.  Then a friend of her's created a shirt in under 5 minutes. This triggered a 'hey, I can do that too then!' reaction with Layja and caused a lot of fooling around with GIMP - opensource Photoshop - and textures.  And she has stick to opensource, using mainly GIMP and Blender. Why? 'Well, it's ususally better than commercial software,' says Layja Vidor.

When asked about her favourtie time period & major inspirations for her virtual fashion designs, Layja very confident says: 'Night!'  She createse virtual designs for everybody: some outfits are mainstream, others are fantasy style warrior outfits. Yeah, a lot of her customers are bored of dressing exactly the same as they would in real life.  But most of all, she's just making clothes which she herself likes to wear, no matter if most of the designs are not mainstream enough.
