Nicky Ree

Nicky Ree - known for her SL fashion business 'Designing Nicky Ree' was 'created' - or virtually born - on the 19th of February 2006. She first heard about SL in 2006 from her husband and he had heard of it from his friends. They registered to find out more about it and to explore this 3D world. Up until now, she works and publishes exclusively in Second Life.

When asked how she end up in the virtual fashion business, it's a rather interesting story: 'I was bored for the first couple of days, pretty much tp'd around from one popular place to another, which only consisted of camping chairs and casinos and dance clubs, and I nearly gave up on SL. But then I discovered a lovely place called the Black Library and met some very nice people there, who seemed to be able to hold a decent conversation and pretty much stayed there while I developed my skills using the templates provided by SL for making clothes. I did not have much L$ when I first started so I decided to learn how to make my own clothes and items and friends saw my work and persuaded me to start a shop to sell my creation.'

Nicky Ree works mainly in photoshop to create her - incredible - designs, but sometimes she also uses tools like Freehand and Illustrator to plan out her graphics. Strangely enough, and opposed to other virtual fashion designers, Miss Ree does not seem to have a favourite time period to place her designs in: 'I don't have one favourite, if you see my collection, the range is very varied, from space suits, bikinis, fantasy, costumes, modern gowns, ....' Nicky Ree creates clothes for more stylish shopper: 'I at least hope I do :)'. She uses the best way there is: creating clothing that she's sure her avatar would want to wear.
