M.C. Escher's "Stars" in Second Life

About the Build

In 1948 M.C. Escher executed a stellar woodblock etching that he called "Stars." Two chameleons hold onto a geometrical cage as it whirls through empty space. These chameleons are surrounded by dozens of simple and complex polyhedra. Up to now, the chameleons have been very hungry. (There's not much insect life in empty space.) This etching has always been one of my favorites and i have always fantasized being able to fly into the print. SL is the perfect place for that fantasy to come true! Sixty years after its birth that fantasy comes true at the NPIRL build in Second Life.

About the Artist

I have been searching for Second Life all of my Real Life. (Athough I think my real life is only a figment of my imagination!) Artistically, anything is possible here. The possibilities are unlimited and unbounded. (Like the work of M.C. Escher.) At the moment I am obsessed with building Sacred Geometry. Closely related to that is my obsession with the works of M.C. Escher. Yesterday I built a "larger than Second Life" alchemical apparatus designed to steam distill the Elixir of Life. At the moment all of my building is handmade, and not with scripts. I currently have another work of Sacred Geometry at the Radiance art show on AngelGate and some of my geometric work can be viewed in Wizzy's Workshop at slurl.com/secondlife/Glorious/206/127/421. Check out my Temple of Sacred Geometry.
